I started at The Florida Times-Union in May full time as an education reporter, but quickly my responsibilities expanded. From running digital during emergency coverage, such as hurricanes and tropical storms — where I along with a special team would be in charge of running a live blog, producing stories, managing social media and sending out push alerts — to picking up sports stories when our small staff lost our lead NFL reporter and just about everything in between. Along with enterprise stories on the school and education quality in the northeast, a big part of my role is covering government issues and explaining to readers why they should care.
